Bhagavad Gita 220122

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

47 To work only is your right
But never for their fruits
You neither be wage motived
Nor be subjected to inaction.

48 Be steady and perform actions
Abandoning all attachments.
Gain or loss have balance,
For balance of mind is Yoga.

Men have to work as it's his right. However, he has no right for it's fruits. Therefore, one should not work wanting fruit, he should not become inactive or lazy too. Arjuna you do perform your actions, without any attachments. Have balance of mind. Because, balance of mind is called yoga.

Oh Lord Krishna, bless us to have balance of mind. Hare Krishna

Bhagavad Gita 220121

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

45 Veda deals the three attributes
But be un-atributed Bharatha !
Ever be inert, without dualities;
Ever preserved in the stable self.

46 What is the use of a well;
When every where is flooded
Same is from all Vedas
What a Brahman can fetch.

When all places are flooded with water, what's the meaning of digging a well. As Athman is the only Subject, why read wast Vedas. Vedas describes the three attributes. But Arjuna conquer the attributes and act beyond them. In other words, be un-attributed, beyond Satwa, Rajas and Thamo gunas.

Oh Lord of all attributes. We Salute thee to make us perfect devotees.

Bhagavad Gita 220120

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

43 Mind lusty, heaven longing
And deeds rebirth rewarding
Actions vivid all passionful
To amass more soothe and wealth.

44 Mind stole by lust and wealth
Such unresolute fate no peace.
Veda deals the three attributes
But be un-atributed Bharatha !

Krishna says the world is lusty and heaven wanting. However, their deeds are such that they get rebirth. Men with lust for women and wealth, lost peace and love. The cause of this is the three attributes, says the Vedas. However Arjuna, you have to be beyond these attributes.

There attributes are basic nature of all men. Krishna devotion to thee is the only remedy. Hare Krishna

Bhagavad Gita 220119

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

41 It is the concentration of the mind
On the one alone oh Kurunandana
Endless and many branched
Mind is always an irresolute.
42 Those who loves vedas oh Partha,
Their words are like roses only.
These arrogant narrators do
Have nothing great to teach.

Krishna explains the nature of mind. The mind has multiple functions and is endless. Concentration of mind on a single subject is yoga. Krishna now criticises Veda lovers. Veda says flower like beautiful words. But teach nothing great. The reality is there is only one thing to learn, that is Athman, Know Athman, purpose of learning is accomplished.

Oh Supreme Soul, gude and shower thy blessings on us. Hare Krishna

Krishna said:

39 You have been taught of Sankhya,
Now hear more on wisdom - Yoga;
Partha! skill in this wisdom - Yoga
Will wipe off thy action - bondage.

40 Once it began, it never ends,
Know it also never retaliates.
Even a bit of this knowledge will
Protect you from great fears.

Krishna says, I delivered On the soul the Sankhya Yoga. Now I will give you wisdom yoga. Skill in this yoga will eradicate all your bonding to action. This yoga, is endless and have no side effects. Even a bit of this knowledge will sheald you from great fears.

Wisdom on self will remove all fears. Wisdom on yoga will guard us from all duality. Oh Lord of Yoga- Krishna, bless us with thy Yoga.

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

37 You get heaven if slain
You can enjoy life if won
So arise oh son of Kunthi
Determined to fight this war.

38 Be balanced in joy and pain,
In gain, loss or victory, defeat.
Hence arise to fight oh Partha
Thus incur not any sin on thee.

Krishna said, Arjuna will get heaven if he is slayed in the war. If not fight, sin will incur.  However, Krishna reminded Arjuna for war.  Joy and pain, victory or defeat, are the way of the world. So he asks Arjuna to fight to escape from sin.

Lord Krishna, thee guide us in all hurdles.      Hare Krishna

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

35 Great warriors may think it is
Cowardice if thee flee war field.
Though well honoured was in past
Thee will be counted on for less.

36 Scandals many unspeakable
Will be told against you,
Abused will be thy skills
What else is more pitiful ?

Now Krishna speak to arise pride in Arjuna. For this Krishna reminded his warrior attitude. A warrior's pride is hurt when we call him a coward. Krishna warns him people will call him a coward, if he does not fight now.

Criticism can be a best motivation. Krishna knows when and where to criticize. Krishna, Make us thy devotees.

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

33 If this duty bound war
Is not fought now itself.
Sin will incur thee and
Thy self respect and fame.

34 It will cause not only shame
But scandals also will follow
Once if happens any dishonour
For you it is more than death.

After removing all fear of death, then Krishna reminded Arjuna about his duty of war. Krishna warns Arjuna. If he do not fight for his people, sin will occur. There by his self-respect will be damaged. Result will be scandals, shame and dishonour. For a warrior dishonour is more than death.

Fight to death than submit to shame. You will become immortal.

Krishna said:

31 Looking thine own duty too
Thee deserve not to waver.
Nothing, than righteous war is
Known as great for a Kshatriya.

32 Great heaven is open
In front of you so easy.
So lucky is the Kshatriyas
Getting war like this Partha !

After  the truth of the soul, Krishna reminded Arjuna. As a warrior, a Kshatriya, Arjuna has to fight with out any hesitation. Krishna ensure that men of his community are lucky to get the opportunity to fight.

   Death defending dignity is great.

Bhagavad Gita 220112

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

29 Soul is a wonder, observes one
It is a wonder, tells another one
It is a wonder, hears yet another
It is felt by all, yet known by none.

30 The soul eternal is undestructable
That dwells in all bodies Bharatha
Hence for all these perishable mass
Bharatha, you need not grieve for it.

Krishna elaborate on soul. Soul is a wonder, people think, say and hear on it. However, nobody knows the truth. The soul is indestructible. It dwells in a perishable body as the imperishable. Therefore there is no need to worry for the soul.

The knowledge of self and soul is the ultimate knowledge. For gaining knowledge blessings of God and teacher is must. May God and teachers bless us with knowledge.

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

27 Death is sure for that born
Birth is sure for that dead.
For which it is inevitable
Why you need to grieve for it?

28 Unclear is state prior to life
Seems it to be clear on earth;
Again unclear after death it seems,
Why should you grieve for all this ?

Krishna said that death and birth are inevitable on earth. The state of life is unclear before birth and after death. Wise do not grieve on it. Krishna by saying this shows the uncertainty of life.

Doubt, fear and such suffering comes from ignorance. Meditation removes ignorance. Meditate on the supreme soul - Krishna for his blessings.

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

25 The self is inert and stable
Unclear and unimaginable
Hence knowing such is self
You need not grieve for it.

26 Think it takes birth daily
Think it also dies daily
Yet for ever oh Mighty Armed,
You need not grieve for it.

Krishna further elaborate on the soul. Soul is Unclear and unimaginable. Knowledge of Such wonderful soul, one should not grieve on it. Imagine your soul take birth daily and dies as well. Then also you should not grieve on it.

Death and birth is the nature of the world, that you have to accept. Surrender to the Supreme. Work for the welfare of the world. It is Dharma.

Bhagavad Gita 220109

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

23 No weapon can cleave a soul
Nor the fire can burn it
Neither water can wet it
Nor the wind can dry the soul.

24 Undividable and unburnable
Unbulking and uncompactable
Also the self is eternal
All - pervading and stable
Immovable as well as
Ancient also is the soul.

Krishna continue with his dialogue to Arjuna. He establishes the importance of Soul very clearly to Arjuna. Soul can never be cut apart. Soul can never be wet by water nor can be dried by wind. Soul is undividable, unburnable, non-compactable, immovable and eternal. Soul is all pervading and ancient.

Such is our soul, then why do we fear ?  We have to take consciousness along with faith and surrender to the Supreme Soul, Lord Krishna.

Bhagavad Gita 220108

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

21 Known as deathless eternal
Unborn and exhaustless one
Say; how such one oh Partha
Can be killed by someone else?

22 Like a man puts off his rags
And he wear on new cloths
Thus soul also leaves an old
And enters another body new.

Krishna continue his convincing dialogue with Arjuna. He explained the nature of Soul in detail. When the soul can not be exhausted, and it is Unborn, it cannot be killed by someone else. For example, a man charges his clothes when it is beyond repair. Thus a soul also leaves an old body and takes a new body to complete his mission.

Thus Krishna explained to Arjuna the truth of Soul. Oh Lord Krishna, bless us to experience thy presence and love eternal ever and ever.

Bhagavad Gita 220107

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

19 That he thinks to kill the soul
That who think it is slain
Both know not the fact that
Soul neither die nor can be killed.

20 Soul was never born nor never dies
Neither soul forms and then reforms.
The everlasting, invinsible, ancient soul -
Takes a perishable body though perpetual.

Krishna continue his convincing dialogue to Arjuna for rejuvenating him to perform the fight. Krishna says, in a war, you kill someone. But as the soul is deathless, how can one kill or die ? Soul never dies nor reborn. However, the soul takes many bodies to full fill the wishes in the course of life. Liberation of soul is the aim of life.

The wisdom on it will be revealed by Krishna in due time. For that we have to become his disciple like Arjuna. Let us pray and submit

 शिष्यस्तेहं साथिमां त्वां प्रपन्नम ॥

Bhagavad Gita 220106

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

17 Know that it is eternal
Pervading all here or there
Eternal as such is self
None can cause it destruction.

18 For everlasting imperishable
And undividable is the soul;
Dwelling in this perishable mass
Thus knowing, oh Bharatha fight.

Krishna continue to encourage Arjuna. He explained the eternal soul. That the soul pervades the whole world. Soul is undividable and imperishable. It dwells in all these bodies as an imperishable identity as self.  Knowing this fact of self, you fight Oh Partha.

Krishna says, our body is perishable, but the Soul that pervades it is imperishable. Men have to do action to protect Dharma, for which death or suffering is to be neglected. Oh Lord, bless us to be virtuous. Let us defend aff evils to society, in thy consciousness.

Bhagavad Gita 220105

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

15 Whom do this afflict not
Is the chief man among men.
So be bold in joy and pain
It is considered deathlessness.

16 The real knows no death
The unreal knows no being
The truth of real - unreal
The noble seers only know.

Krishna said last time that we all are the forms or part of a single Athman (soul).  Heat and cold effect everybody. So is death and pain, joy etc.  A wise man neglect them. So such one is considered as death less.  This idea is the best one to ponder.

It says, the fool dies many times, the wise have no death at all. Oh Lord Krishna, you art the wisdom in us. Bless us, be with us.

Bhagavad Gita 220104

Bhagavad Gita
CH -II Yoga of Knowledge
(Sankhya Yoga)

Krishna said:

13 Child, youth and old age are
The stages that the body pass.
But never grieves a wise for it
For he knows life cease at last.

14 Heat, cold, joy and pain
Feels the organs by contact.
Momentary and though changing
You have to endure them all.

Krishna explains his views to Arjuna. The three stages of life, child, youth and old-age are inevitable. All has to endure them. So wise men never grieves on it. Krishna establish it with example. The heat, cold and it's effect joy and pain are temporary feelings of contact. These momentary and changing effects all have to bear.

Suffering make man more confident and brings near to God. Isn't it? Prayers make man strong to bear the suffering. Oh Lord Krishna, our prayers to you. Bless us.

Sanjaya said:

11 You grieve for the undeserved
Yet speak and discuss as wise.
For those live or for those dead
The wise deserves never to grieve.

12 You never perish and so
Are these kings and me too.
Nothing can cease here so
For ever we all will last.

Last time we saw Arjuna became Krishna's disciple. Now Krishna, the Master begins to induces wisdom in Arjuna. Krishna reminded Arjuna that his concern is for the underserved. A wise man never cries for the dead or alive.  Actually no one perishes or none will cease to be here on earth.

We all are parts of Paramathma which never dies. Oh Krishna, you are the Paramathma. Bless us with thy Universal awareness.

Sanjaya said:
9Then Partha the foefoiler -
Thus told Lord Hrishikesa
“I am not fighting at all”
And sat there in tears mum.

10 Despondent amid the armies thus
Hrishikesa called him Bharatha
And spake these words important
To him with an earnest smile.

Arjuna leaving his weapons sat sorrow stuck saying " I am not fighting at all."  Arjuna has became his disciple, Krishna has to guide him. The master has to tackle the depressed and shattered mind of Arjuna. Bring him back to action. Krishna began to say the most important words so wonderful with an amusing smile. Krishna always have that amusing smile that enchanted an amazing lot. We can listen to his amazing words tomorrow.

Let us ponder his amusing smile in our hearts.
